‘Apex’ Review: An Entertaining 90-Minute Thriller

Apex Review

While Netflix’s original films sometimes struggle to be extraordinary, their ability to create solid, self-contained narratives has given the platform much success. Following this path, Apex is an entertaining 90-minute thriller with a simple story supported by good performances.

While exploring the Australian wilderness, a woman finds herself on the run from a deadly serial killer. Charlize Theron stars alongside Taron Egerton and Eric Bana.

Written by Jeremy Robbins and directed by Baltasar Kormákur, Apex is a film that delivers on its promises but does not exceed expectations in any meaningful manner. In this regard, the narrative follows an easy path to its destination. Even so, the core adventure at the film’s centre is never boring; in fact, it’s often pretty thrilling.

Within the picture, Charlize Theron is an impressive lead performer, even if this is the kind of role that she can do in her sleep. Taron Egerton is quite effective, too, but his character distinctly allows him to stretch his acting muscles more than Theron. Because of this, he is the most memorable part of the movie.

Apex is the perfect movie to watch on a lazy Friday night. It’s the kind of film that will be forgotten in a few hours, but while it’s playing, there is much to enjoy.
